I got the news today, My brother has gone away.

You left us without a chance to say goodbye, Leaving eyes filled with tears to cry.

I know you are standing on heaven's shore, Telling us to grieve no more.

For your life was filled with happiness and love, And now you keep watch on us from above.

“Be sure to feed my dogs”, I am certain you whispered during flight, “And don't forget to let them in on cold and rainy nights”.

Through the years of growing up, we grew apart, But I hope you know never once did you leave my heart.

God called you home, all your hard work on earth is finished now, Life must go on without you, I am just not sure how.

Each memory I have of you I will hold a little more tightly, And at night I will look for your star in heaven shining oh so brightly.

I close my eyes and see you sitting on a distance shore, Fishing rod in hand, dogs at your side, no worries, no pain, no more.

So when I think of you, and your presence I am missing,

I will tell myself it's ok, He has forever gone fishin'.
